The collaboration is a creative dialogue between La Metropolitana and Carsten Höller that revolves around brutalism, with intentions to explore the traditionally monolith practices of gastronomy, architecture, and interior design by extending the idea of purity into the everyday. It consists of 5 styles of stackable stools, chairs, tables, service station and cheese boards that are made from local mexican oak wood with natural finish, allowing the essence of the material to show through.
The design employs traditional joinery techniques and incorporates angular shapes that coordinates with the restaurant’s five-degree slant – a reoccurring feature in Höller’s artwork.
The set of furniture was produced in Mexico, between La Metropolitana’s home workshop in Mexico City and its satellite workshop in Xocotla, Veracruz.
